Bob Thurman (W7HLD) passed away on January 5, 2015. He was 100 years-old, a retired United States Navy Commander and served as the 1969-1970 president of the WBCCI Amateur Radio Club.
Bob had a long career with the United States Navy and served both during and after World War II. Some of the ships he commanded were: USS ATR46, USS Tawasa, USS Grapple, USS EPCER 857, USS Safeguard, USS Minder and the USS Windless.
Bob was an avid RV enthusiast. He and his wife traveled from the Panama Canal to the Arctic Circle as members of Wally Byam Caravan Club International until 2007.
